About Dr. Hab. Radosław Bielawski
Radosław Bielawski is a habilitated doctor in security studies with an extensive academic background in mechatronics and defense innovation. He graduated from the Military University of Technology in 2004 and subsequently completed postgraduate studies specializing in information security and computer graphics. In 2017, he earned his PhD at the Warsaw University of Technology, focusing his research on the strength of composite materials and their applications in aviation. In 2023, he was awarded a habilitated doctorate based on significant scientific achievements, including a seminal monograph on the militarization of space.
Professional Experience
Throughout his career across academia, public administration, and the defense sector, he has held academic positions at the National Defence University / War Studies University and the Warsaw University of Technology. He later served at the Ministry of National Defence Innovation Department, where he coordinated and monitored research and development (R&D) projects, particularly within the field of Emerging and Disruptive Technologies (EDTs).
Current Role at NATO STO
Dr. Hab. Bielawski currently serves within the NATO Science & Technology Organization (STO), Collaboration Support Office. Since July 2024, he holds a leadership role in one of the nine Scientific and Technical Committees (STCs), leading and coordinating international research projects and expert collaboration. His responsibilities include engagement with industry partners and startups, as well as providing strategic analytical recommendations to support decision-making processes regarding project development and participation in NATO programmes.
Key Achievements & Interests
His professional achievements include rapid progression through academic ranks up to Deputy Director level, the successful development of scientific journals supported by national grants, and driving active involvement of Polish researchers in NATO STO initiatives, including specialized niche areas such as biotechnology. He is also certified in PRINCE2 project management.

Since 2026, Dr. Hab. Radosław Bielawski has been a distinguished member of the International Advisory Board and the Peer-Review Board of the Romanian Journal of Military Social Work (RJMSW). His extensive expertise in security studies, defense innovation, and emerging disruptive technologies significantly enhances the journal’s academic standards, peer-review process, and interdisciplinary research.
